Improving Household Income

As we are still striving to improve the Household Income of Women and Youths in Mpata, our dedicated Extension Officer, Brenda Chitete, recently conducted training at Kakoma Business Centre on the use of solar dryers. This innovative technology allows farmers to preserve their tomatoes for longer, reducing spoilage and enhancing profitability.

Initially, the project improving the household income of women and youths in Mpata farmer group through post harvest loss management of tomatoes by October 2024 targeted Mpata EPA. However, due to some challenges, the focus shifted to Kaporo south EPA.

This initiative aims to uplift Smart and Msomba farmer organizations by equipping them with skills and resources to reduce post-harvest losses and improve market access for their produce.

With these developments, we are excited about the future impact on the livelihood of Mpata’s women and youth farmers. Together, we’re building a more sustainable and profitable agricultural community.
